Successful Work Party

I understand that there was a good turn out last Saturday for the work party and there were plenty of hands on deck so a big thank you to everyone who turned out.

There was good progress made on the new pathway behind the large pool which is a really nice addition to the reserve.

The leaves are now starting to fall and in a few weeks time we will be inundated with them on the paths around the reserve so as the season changes there will be new challenges ahead.

Duck Island brought to shore

At the last work party we decided due to the low water levels to bring Duck Island to the shore so we could tidy up. It wasn’t an easy task but after a lot of effort with extended poles we managed it.

The island was quite overgrown and still had the eggs that the Greylag goose had left behind some weeks ago which is such a shame as it would have been lovely to have seen them hatch, maybe next year.

Work Party update

It was good to see so many volunteers turn up to help out today. Duck Island was retrieved and tidied up as it had become very overgrown and the Greylag Goose had left a long time ago. The eggs have been there for some time and had unfortunately been abandoned by Mother Goose similar to last year.

The new path behind the dipping pond was cleared and gives you a new insight to the reserve with the smell of the mint growing close by. Its not often we get to walk this side of the reserve but due to the low water level we are able to at the moment.

All in all it was a good mornings work and thank you to everyone who contributed on a warm morning.
