Saturday was a beautiful day and we had a good turn out and a very productive day. Some of the volunteers used their skills at willow weaving on the gate adjacent to the new bird hide whilst others cleared ground elder (which is back braking) and old bull rushes from behind the dipping pond.
The reserve is coming into colour with the daffodils in full bloom and other various plants coming to life after a long winter. The Moorhen babies were out and about on the water, some of them playing hide and seek from mum but beautiful to see.
We also spotted a Brimstone Butterfly which is a beautiful yellow colour but for photo purposes kept landing on the yellow primroses making it very hard to capture.
All in all a good mornings work and the coffee and biscuits went down a treat.
